Construction Inspection
VS Engineering provided construction management and inspection services for the Nucor Road Sanitary Sewer Collection System in Montgomery County, IN. The Montgomery County Regional Sewer District retained VS to provide construction management and full-time construction inspection for the project, including the following contract items:
- 15,604 LF of 10” PVC sanitary sewer pipe installation
- 8,290 LF of 8” PVC sanitary sewer pipe installation
- 1,892 LF of 6” lateral sanitary sewer pipe installation
- 17,387 LF force main installation
- Directional pipe drilling
- Horizontal pipe boring
- 95 manhole installations
- Subdivision Roadway Reconstruction
- (2) Lift station installations
- CCTV of newly installed sanitary sewer pipe
- Access drive. construction
- Erosion control
- Restoration activities
VS provided full-time inspection of the project that required much coordination with regulatory agencies, local government officials and residents alike. Full-time inspection was in conformance with the firm's QA/QC program:
- Daily inspection of contractor's and subcontractor's work to ensure complete conformance with plans and specifications
- Quality Assurance testing of all constructed materials
- Daily reporting of all construction activities, including complete material and manpower records
- Daily, weekly and monthly report
- Tracking progress of work on a unit price basis for verification of prime contractor's pay vouchers
- Maintaining files of all work item invoices and material tickets
- Regular interaction with design and contractor for clarification and interpretation of contract requirements
- Availability to residents to answer questions and concerns
- Communication between designer, owner and prime contractor
- Final project accounting and all project close-out requirements
